Clinics - Recreational Track

Our year round clinics provide a combination of instruction, practice, competition and fun! We offer 5 levels of instruction: PRE-K, BRONZE, BRONZE+, SILVER, AND GOLD. We follow the USTA recommended youth progression system.

  • PRE-K (3-4 years, 45 minutes)
  • BRONZE (~5-8 years, 1 hour)
  • BRONZE + (~7-9 years, 1 hour)
  • SILVER (~8-12 years, 1.5 hours)
  • GOLD (~13+ years, 2 hours)

Comp Teams - Competitive Track

Eligible players who are ready to make a commitment to tennis may join one of our Comp Teams. These players are typically working towards a spot on their high school and possibly their college teams. As such, the training will be more intense than in clinics, but still appropriate for the age level of the players on each team. These players will be expected to attend practices and matches regularly. Players will meet monthly with their coach to set goals and discuss progress. Seasons are offered in the Fall, Winter and Spring.

TEAMS

  • 10U Comp Team (Orange/Green)
  • 12U Comp Team (Green/Yellow)
  • UTR 6- COMP TEAM (Challenger/Open)
  • UTR 6+ COMP TEAM (Open)

COMMITMENT
Players will attend at least two out of three practices per week. Practices will include skills development, fitness, tactical/mental training and match play. Players will compete in at least 2 matches per month. These may include any of the following: JTT, USTA Tournaments, Interclub (against other clubs) and Intraclub (against teammates). If JTT is in season during the Comp Team season (Fall/Spring), players will be expected to play on a JTT team.

PRIORITIES/OTHER SPORTS
Joining a Comp Team means that players have decided to make tennis a priority for that season. Teammates are counting on each other to attend practices and show up for matches. Participation in other sports is allowed, but tennis should be the higher priority when it comes to attendance at practices and matches.

USTA Junior Team Tennis

Junior Team Tennis is a program of the United States Tennis Association. USTA Jr. Team Tennis is a national youth tennis league played in all 50 states. Players get together to play singles, doubles, and mixed doubles against other teams. It promotes values you would expect from any sport by fostering a spirit of cooperation, unity and individual self-growth. Also, it’s a fun environment for kids where they learn that succeeding is really more about how you play the game – win or lose.

Teams will play an average of 5-6 matches, home and away. Overall win/loss record determines the local league winner. Depending on the season or division, there are multiple opportunities to advance to sectional or championships. These USTA events not only showcase great tennis played in a team environment; it is a great social experience for the players, coaches and even parents! TEAM REGISTRATION
Each season, Alpine Hills registers teams with the USTA based on the number of sign-ups received. Once teams have been registered by coaches, the schedules are set by the USTA. Coaches may modify the schedule due to court availability at their locations. TEAMSNAP: TeamSnap is an app that is used by Alpine Hills to manage our schedules, roster and player availabilities.

MATCH LINE-UP
The match line-ups are not arbitrary. Each coach is required to play the rounds according to the strength of the players as determined by the coach.

PLAYER RULES/GUIDELINES
Arrive on time (15 minutes before the match starts) and appropriately dressed in tennis attire. Bring water and a snack, especially at away matches. Some teams/clubs provide water and snacks and some do not. Exhibit good sportsmanship and encourage it from fellow players. Cheer for your teammates and have fun!
